New Series in May

Week 1

Title: No ‘Idol’ Time Allowed

Text: Exodus 19 - 20:5

Main Point: God deserves to be #1 in my life

Lesson Overview: Who doesn’t want to be #1? From an early age, being the best or first in games, sports, academics or other skills are important to kids and in reality, adults! The focus of this lesson is about being #1. Not me, not a pro athlete, musician, actor or entertainer of any kind. The number one slot belongs to God alone! God is worthy of being first in our lives even above our selves. When we put God first, everything else falls into place.

Week 2

Title: Could someone please turn down the heat?

Main Point: It’s safe to put God first!

Text: Daniel 3:1-30

Lesson Overview: What ‘church kid’ hasn’t heard the story of the three Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace? Even so, it still remains a powerful story that encourages both kids and adults alike, not to compromise our obedience to God regardless of the situation or consequence.

Week 3

Title: Can somebody please Baal me out?

Main Point: When I’m alone I will still put God first.

Text: 1 Kings 18: 17-38

Lesson Overview: Being alone is no fun sometimes, particularly for a child. The odds certainly were not in Elijah’s favor as he stood before the king and the 450 prophets of Baal as he challenged the people to put Baal or God first. Wouldn’t you like to know what he was thinking and feeling as he called down fire from Heaven! In a fun way this lesson encourages the kids to put God first even when they are alone.

Week 4

Title: I’m Achan to put God first!

Main Point – Don’t put anything in front of God.

Text: Joshua 7

Lesson Overview: Israel had just won a tremendous victory as the walls of Jericho crashed down. There was no stopping Joshua now, right? Wrong- Achan chose gold and silver first over God. Gold and silver became Achan’s idol. Achan’s idolatry cost the lives of 36 men and also the life of Achan and his family. This lesson will creatively teach kid’s that any THING we put before God becomes an idol.

Easter Family Service

So I can barely contain my excitement for next week! Do you know what I'm looking forward to?
One of my three favorite holidays is this coming Sunday and OC kids are ministering in our Raster Family Service! You do not want to miss it! Sunday, April 24th @10AM.

We just had our special kids church Easter service which, focused on remembering Jesus. Reminding the kids, leaders & myself why Easter is the most humbling, amazing, love filled holiday. From helping me tell the Easter story to nailing their names to the cross & having communion together, I saw kids have a deeper understanding of the love & sacrifice. Our kids are really tender and growing I can see every week. This week was no exception.

One of the kids said after service yesterday, "I cried when you told me I was the reason Jesus died on the cross. I'm that special? Wow! No wonder you always say God loves me & has a plan for me. Hey, next week we get to tell all the people in church that God did that for them, huh?" Tears welled up in my eyes as I said you are so right. I told him I cry when I am reminded how much God loves me too!

Wow! That's what it's about right?
Love those OC kids! God help me disciple, mentor and pour myself into their lives for you!

New Kids Church Theme starts Feb 6th!

Sweet Tooth Lessons
What kid doesn’t have a sweet tooth?
Come learn some great Bible lessons from Candy!
Blowpops February 6
In this lesson kids will talk about Blow Pop Suckers and will learn to look at the
inside of a person and not just the outside. The Bible story will come from the time David was selected to be the next king over Israel. Everyone was looking at his outside appearance, but God was looking at his heart.
Fireballs February 13
This lesson teaches kids about Atomic Fireballs and will learn to go to God for courage and faith. The Bible story will come from the time David was facing Goliath. Everyone was looking at him and thinking he looked too wimpy, but David had courage and faith that God would see him through.
Twix February 20
Twix bars stick together all the way from the chocolate factory to your hands! In this lesson, kids learn about friendship by looking at the lives of David and Jonathan. These two guys stuck together through good times and bad. Kids are encouraged be a “stick-together” friend and more importantly to know Jesus - the best friend ever.
Dum Dums February 27
This lesson is about Dum Dum Pops and respecting authority. The lesson comes from the time Saul was chasing David. Saul was out to kill David. David even had several good opportunities to kill Saul, but he chose not to because he respected him as God’s anointed leader. Kids will learn that respect for our leaders is important.
Skittles March 6
In this lesson kids learn about King Saul’s death and David’s new position as king. Using the rainbow-colors found in Skittles candy, the kids are reminded that God always keeps his promises. He kept his promise to David that he would be king and He still keeps His promises today.
Jawbreakers March 13th
This lesson is about telling God you’re sorry even when it’s hard to do.
David was a man after God’s own heart even though he wasn’t perfect. This lesson will teach kids that God always forgives them when they come to him and say they are sorry.
